Vice President
Rob
Rob has been a proud member of Sawtry Social Club since moving to the village in 2004 and has served on the committee since 2019, becoming Vice President in 2024. Originally from North London, he spent 40 years with the Royal Mail and Post Office, retiring as an Executive Manager in 2011.
At the club, Rob plays a key role in ensuring everything runs properly behind the scenes, overseeing club rules, policies, legal compliance and insurance, while also contributing to the Finance, Bar and Entertainment sub-committees. Away from the club, he enjoys fishing, travelling the world and following football, particularly Chelsea FC and the England teams.

Fun fact: Rob has performed on the main stage of the Royal Albert Hall five times during the 1960s – three times as a gymnast and twice as a member of the 1st Enfield Boys' Brigade drill team.

Treasurer
Ruth
Born in Essex in 1958, Ruth has built an impressive career supporting children's services through leadership, technology and organisational change. After 20 years in a variety of roles within Children's Social Care, she progressed into senior management, leading the implementation of case management systems before moving into consultancy. For the past decade, Ruth has worked with local authorities across the UK, delivering large-scale IT transformation projects.
Outside of the club, she enjoys crafting, cross-stitching, reading and spending time with her family. She also runs her own business as an independent travel agent, a role she plans to continue enjoying alongside retirement.

Committee Member
Ray
After beginning his career with a GPO apprenticeship in 1974, [Name] built decades of experience across communications, engineering, technical support, project management and leadership, managing teams and delivering complex nationwide network projects.
Following a varied career and three redundancies, he decided to swap the corporate world for a more hands-on life, working as a handyman, painter and decorator, and gardener. Outside the club, he enjoys boating, caravanning, spending time in the garden and with his dog and cat. Passionate about the future of Sawtry Social Club, he is committed to helping ensure it continues to thrive as an important community asset for years to come.
Fun fact: He married his wife, Tina, at the Tower of London in 1979.

Committee Member
Tina
Born in Hertford in 1953, Tina dedicated her career to supporting people with learning disabilities. After initially training to work with children, she went on to study at Anglia University in Cambridge, graduating with a double honours degree in Sociology and Human Geography, while also gaining nursing experience alongside her studies. She later worked with adults with learning disabilities, progressing into Team Leader and Assistant Manager roles before retiring through ill health in 2011.
Tina has also given her time to voluntary work and is pleased to be back on the committee, helping to support the continued success of Sawtry Social Club and its place within the community.
Fun fact: Tina previously served on the club committee before making a return several years later – proving that sometimes coming back is the right decision.
